English courses at the Lycée Michel Lucius

English classes at the Lycée Michel Lucius

In 2011/12 the Lycée Michel Lucius (LML) responded to the growing demand for an English language curriculum offer by launching English speaking classes. The offer is aimed at students with English as either a first or a second language.

Lower School (7EC, 6EC, 5EC)

These classes serve as preparatory classes for the International GCSE curriculum.

Middle School (4EC, 3EC)

These two years prepare the students for the International GCSE exams taken in May/June in 3EC. The Govt. of Luxembourg will ratify the qualifications providing the specified curriculum is completed successfully and grant “Diplôme 11e“. Certain conditions do apply: students require A*-C grades in English, Mathematics, a science, a language and a humanities subject.

Upper School (2EC, 1EC)

These final two years equip the students with the knowledge required for university studies. During 2EC, the students study for their AS level exams and during 1EC, the students are prepared for their A-level exams (A-level only from 2015/16 on). You may then gain an equivalence of the Luxembourgish “diplôme de fin d’études secondaires/secondaires technique “. Again, certain conditions apply.

Entry requirements

As we admit students with a variety of educational backgrounds from all over the world we will test their English to ensure they are able to access the English language curriculum:

7EC and 6EC students will be tested in English. The exams will test the students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

5EC, 4EC and 3EC students will be tested in English and mathematics.

2EC and 1EC students will be tested in English and in some of the subjects that they wish to study.
